Broken leg, weddings and Portraiture

Submitted by robplato on Tue, 2009-04-28 13:05.

As some of you may know I broke my tib fib when I hit a stump on the ski hill a little over a month ago. I had surgery to pin it and although it was pretty nasty at first things are feeling much better now. Athough it will stil be a while before I can put full weight on it and get onto physio to get back out there. Luckily or not so luckily I've been through this before, no sweat.

What I'd like to do this summer is include some more wedding and portraite work.

Fernie ski comp and Winter ?

Submitted by robplato on Mon, 2009-03-02 20:16.

Well, like allot of us powder hounds out here I'm still waiting for winter to really kick in............. UPDATE !!! Winter just kicked in. If you weren't shredding snake ridge today I'ms sorry to say you missed out, if not the best day so far this year. Sounds like more for tomorow (Thursday March 5th 2009). Maybe March will make up for this low snow year. My how things can change quick ! Last Tuesdays taste of fresh snow was great but it needs more ! No photos of that day (too busy skiing light weight) in fact I've been too busy to shoot much in general but renovations are almost complete so I can get back at it and I'm looking forward to the Island lake photo shoot out in end of March. I did snap some shots of the action on Polar peek the other day at the Fernie Free Ski Comp. Very impressive, these guys were going huge ! Pretty good conditions really. I guess not having snow for a while can have it's upsides... but not many, other than not having to shovel the driveway.

Farnham Glacier Olympic Training Facility

Submitted by robplato on Sat, 2008-07-19 15:35.

After a couple of weeks working out at the Farnham Glacier Olympic Training Facility as a cat operator I've taken a few photos along the way. The camp named Camp Green is located just below the toe of the Farnham Glacier where various groups of Canadian Olympic athletes train as well as future competitors. Everything from freestyle to downhill including skiers and snowboarders. About 50 athletes can be accomadated at one time with a similar setup to winter cat skiing operations this year run by Chatter Creek Cat Skiing.
